I love Bill Clinton. I miss Bill Clinton. I was frightened by the bitter ruthless man I saw in the primaries. I was worried about the passive racism I heard from his lips.
Today, I sat talking to some of the wonderful volunteers that work with me in our Campaign for Change office about how I longed to forgive Bill. I longed to once again look at my beloved President with pride.
Tonight I did.
The real Bill Clinton strode onto the stage with just a touch of trepidation. It had been rumored that people might even boo him, fearing it was the fake Bill Clinton. The crowd, however; knew it was him right away. They stood and applauded for over three minutes.
The real Bill Clinton stood up and conquered the doubt about my candidate. The real Bill Clinton spoke about AIDS in Africa, and more importantly AIDS right here at home. Bill Clinton spoke about the quiet leadership that the United States was once known for. He denounced the horrific show of teeth that the Bush White house has made our foreign policy.
He reminded the not so faithful why they needed to come home. He reminded us that social issues are at the root of our very survival. Not all threats to our way of life come from outside our borders. Hunger, Homelessness, Health care and Civil Rights violations plague effect us here in our own country.
These are the 'terrorists' we need to focus on now. The time is now and the need is here at home. Imagine what those 1.6 trillion dollars could have done here.
Welcome home Bill we missed you!
